Escuela Aguas Ocaña de Maduro
We are happy to be partnered with Fundación Amigos de Guarderías Infantiles. A Honduran non-profit organization focused on supporting working parents by providing Day Care services for parents in public schools, so parents working multiple jobs to make ends meet can have their child supported and cared for in many areas. Escuela Aguas Ocaña de Maduro is one of those schools. This is where we run our after school music program teaching Introduction to music, piano, guitar, singing and flute lessons to over 70 youth every week.
Choloma is known for its strong business in the textile industry and for being located right next to the industrial capital of the country, San Pedro Sula. It is also a city in need of extra-curricular options for youth as it is one of the most dangerous places in Honduras.
Escuela Municipal de Artes
Escuela Municipal de Artes de Panajachel is a community art school run by the Municipalidad of Panajachel. Panajachel is a pituresque town in Solola, Guatemala.
Now in partnership with Genesis Community of the Arts, we provide Piano, Guitar, Ukulele, and Flute classes free for marginalized youth here.
We have been teaching arts here since 2015, with the tremendous success of our first year of program, our group of Ukulele and Guitar classes had the opportunity to perform in several school events and the First "Festival por la Paz 2017".
Genesis Community of the Arts © 2018
Genesis runs after school music programs in Toronto offering guitar and drum lessons once a week with classes of 5 to 10 students. Genesis runs these programs in partnership with Sketch, a community arts enterprise based in Toronto that engages diverse young people, ages 16-29, from across Canada, who are navigating poverty, living homeless or otherwise on the margins.
Since launching in Toronto in 2014, Genesis has provided music programming free of charge to dozens of marginalized and street-involved youth who otherwise would not have opportunities to access arts education and the benefits it offers. Genesis’ free, quality classes fill a gap in Toronto, where free music and arts programming is extremely rare.
